Meet the Physicians at the Memorial Healthcare System's Division of Neurosurgery

Greg Zorman, MD, FACS

Chief of Neurosurgery, Memorial Healthcare System

Dr. Zorman is a graduate of Cornell University Medical College. After completing an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurosurgery, he had an interdisciplinary postdoctoral fellowship in physiology and neuroscience, all at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine.

Before joining Memorial Healthcare System as a neurosurgeon in 1986, Dr. Zorman had a private practice in Broward County, Florida. Since then, he has acquired two decades of experience in leadership positions at Memorial and at numerous state, regional and national medical organizations.

Dr. Zorman is a former Chief of Staff for Memorial Regional Hospital. He presently serves as the Chief of the Neurosurgery Division of the Healthcare System.

Dr. Zorman is board-certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and serves on the board of directors for Memorial Foundation and Joe DiMaggio Children's Foundation.

Luis A. Rodriguez, MD, FACS

Neurosurgeon

Dr. Rodriguez earned a medical degree from Universidad del Valle in Colombia. He completed internships at the Department of Health in the Republic of Panama and Gorgas United States Army Hospital; residencies in neurosurgery at the University of Puerto Rico and Indiana University Medical Center; and fellowships in neuro-oncology at the University of California.

Dr. Rodriguez has served as Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of California Los Angeles and Chief of Neurosurgery at Olive View Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is board-certified in neurosurgery.

Alexander Poisik, MD

Neurosurgeon

Dr. Poisik is a graduate of Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed an internship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by a residency in neurosurgery at The Emory Clinic, where he was named the In-Residency Spine Fellow in Complex Spinal Disorders. He later became Chief Resident in Neurosurgery.

Dr. Poisik is a winner of several research grants in the study of cerebrovascular disease. He is an active provisional member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Hoang Duong, MD

Director of Interventional Neuroradiology

Dr. Duong earned a medical degree from McGill University in Montreal. After completing an internal medicine internship at Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, he returned to McGill for a residency in diagnostic radiology and a clinical fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology. He then relocated to New York for a postdoctoral clinical fellowship in interventional neuroradiology at Columbia University and additional studies in biostatistics and epidemiology.

Dr. Duong has taught at McGill University, Columbia University and New York Presbyterian Hospital/ Cornell Medical Center. Prior to coming to Memorial, he was the Assistant Director of Interventional Neurology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. He is board-certified in radiology.

James W. Jaffe, MD

Interventional Neuroradiologist

Dr. Jaffe is board certified in diagnostic radiology with added qualifications in vascular and interventional radiology. He earned his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, and completed his fellowship in interventional neuroradiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Memorial Healthcare System, Dr. Jaffe was Director of Interventional Neuroradiology at JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida.

He has extensive experience in treatment of acute stroke, and is credited with the implementation and overall success of numerous studies in carotid stenting and aneurysmal obliteration. Dr. Jaffe is actively involved in the effort to spread awareness of stroke treatment and prevention.

Linda Sternau, MD

Neurosurgeon

Dr. Sternau received her medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) School of Medicine in Buffalo, New York. She completed her residency in neurosurgery at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmic surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Memorial Healthcare System, Dr. Sternau was Chief of Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.

She has conducted funded research on cerebral ischemia and human brain temperature following head injury. Dr. Sternau was also recognized as a Woman of Vision honoree by the Weizmann Institute of Science, South Florida region, and is listed in the directory of Top Doctors of America for Neurological Surgery.

Christopher R. DeMassi, MD

Neurosurgeon

Dr. DeMassi is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.; and he earned a Master of Science degree in physiology and biophysics at Georgetown University. He completed his internship in general surgery, a residency in neurological surgery and a fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Dr. DeMassi completed a surgical independent study at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Medical Center. He also has expertise in deep brain stimulation, and in treatment for brain tumors and head trauma.
