SERVICES REHABILITATION

Neurological Rehabilitation Services

Memorial's rehabilitation centers provide comprehensive neurological rehabilitation services that are customized to help meet patients' personal goals and assist them in their efforts to regain function and independence. Our neurological rehabilitation teams provide therapy in a multidisciplinary fashion using some of the latest in advanced technologies in a compassionate, patient-and-family centered environment.

Neurological rehabilitation begins when your doctor determines that you are medically stable and most able to benefit from it.

Such neurological rehabilitation services start in the hospital and may continue at some or all of these settings:

The role of neurological rehabilitation therapy is to help patients return to earlier, more effective independent living. Neurological rehabilitation programs depend on individual challenges and needs. Therapy may address:

  • Self-care skills, such as feeding, grooming, bathing and dressing, provided by an occupational therapist
  • Mobility skills, such as moving from the bed to a chair, walking or using a wheelchair, provided by a physical therapist
  • Speaking and language skills, provided by a speech therapist
  • Cognitive skills, such as memory and problem solving
  • Psychological counseling to improve coping skills and to overcome depression, if necessary
